We're Reproducing the Mk2 Westy Grill!
Han Chung
We’re gauging interest in bringing back the Mk2 “Westy” grill. Originally produced for US-market Mk2 Golfs from 1985–1986, these distinctive Westmoreland grills remain one of the most sought-after front ends in the Mk2 community.
We have a NOS original VW Westmoreland grill to use as our reference, with the goal of faithfully reproducing its shape, fit, and details.
Getting those details right requires a significant investment in injection-molding tooling, particularly around the grill’s intricate slats and sharp corners. Before committing to production, we’d like to hear from fellow enthusiasts and see whether there’s enough support to make this happen.
Proposed pricing:
- Preorder: $550
- Regular price: $700
- International shipping: approximately $100
We’re still gauging interest, and production will depend on reaching 25 committed preorders to make the tooling and manufacturing viable. If the 25 slots are not filled and the project is cancelled, we will refund your orders.
